Have you started your Second Season Vegetable Garden?
They are some of the easiest vegetables to grow in Southern California!
There are many edible plants that grow best in the cooler fall weather. Try your hand at growing a second crop of cool season vegetables in your garden and pots. The key to success is planting edibles in well amended soil that receives at least 6 hours of sunlight.
The California Organic Gardening Club (COGC) will hold a Fall Plant Sale on Saturday, Oct. 3, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Woman’s Civic Club of Garden Grove, 9501 Chapman Ave. (near Gilbert Street) in Garden Grove.
COGC will be selling locally grown and organic winter and second season vegetable plants, including Italian Toscana kale, Wine Country Mesclun lettuce, Sugar Daddy snap peas, and some 20 other varieties of plants. Master Gardeners will be available to advise you on selecting and planting your own homegrown vegetables. Visit the California Organic Gardening Club for all your vegetable garden needs!
Also at the event, the California Native Plant Society will offer for sale drought tolerant landscape plants and ornamentals appropriate for Southern California gardens.
