Planting Party – February 23rd

Cao Maru Vegetable Stressballs

A planting party is scheduled for Saturday, February 23rd at 9:00 a.m. at Cheryl Shults’ house. Cheryl lives in Garden Grove at 10271 Geraldine Road, Garden Grove. An interactive map is provided below. Cheryl’s phone numbers are Home 714-798-5010 | Cell 714-422-5373.

Last Saturday was the first of several big pushes in preparing for Green Scene 2013 and our members showed up in numbers! It warms the heart to see so many willing and eager workers committing their time and effort to our club.

This Saturday’s planting party is another big job–seeding trays for all the tomato plants we will sell (2,025 if they all germinate!) and with over 40 varieties on tap, that’s a lot of tomato seeds! Your help is greatly needed, so come and join the fun. Our Tomato Captains, Ed and Erin, have everything well-organized, and will help you in your efforts.

We’ll also finish transplanting the peppers, eggplants, and herbs that have been so lovingly tended by our faithful tray sitters. In addition, we’ll need volunteers to help transport them to the greenhouse at VA Hospital garden in Long Beach.

A potluck breakfast will be served at 9:00 a.m. and the work party will begin at 9:30 a.m. If you come for breakfast, please try to bring something to contribute to the meal. You don’t want to miss out on this wonderful spread. It gets better every week!

If you have any questions, call our Green Scene Chairperson, Martha Haber at 562-421-0089, or check the website for up-to-date information.
